Here’s the Amazon India link to one* of the short stories by me that Penguin India has posted at their site as a Penguin Petit: KLEPTOMANIA (*I thought there were only six, but now one more has turned up).
This was the title story of the collection called KLEPTOMANIA, published in 2004.
A note of caution: this story really is disturbing. I wrote it 20 years ago, before I’d written ESCAPE. It was inspired by two real-world elements: a glass-topped dining table and something a friend told me, about an incident that took place in her mother’s house.
But the twist in the story is not based on any real-life incident. It’s something that slid into my mind while I was musing over what might be seen while sitting at a dining table with a glass top. Once it was there, I couldn’t shift it aside or soften the impact of it.
Yes, a hungry imagination brings us stories...What great fun and challenge both to knit a plausible story.
